Wage slips, salary slips, statements of income,… whatever you choose to call them, these documents attest to your income and are, therefore, very useful, even necessary in some situations. Therefore, it is better to keep them for life.
Keeping your wage slips will help you, moreover,
- to apply for a visa abroad, if you wish to stay there for a while (and, thus, prove that you can support yourself),
- to apply for a mortgage loan or personal loan,
- but also to provide evidence and guarantees to potential future landlords, if you wish to rent a property.
Those payslips will also be of use for your tax return, as well as other documents to be kept regarding your income.
Finally, your wage slips could also serve to enforce your pension rights and prove that you have sufficiently paid your contributions for your pension.
